Ro-Ro Transport
Sustainable logistics
Ro-Ro: the logis(che)tical answer to specific market requirements.
Ro-Ro makes it possible to load and unload without difficulty in a short period of time. RoRo means Roll on - Roll of and stands for the direct transshipment and transport of rolling stock, such as machines and vehicles that can usually propel themselves while rolling. The same applies to large consignments of cars, tractors or trucks.
Considerations at RoRo
- Loading/unloading is less stressful for the rolling material. Nearly 0% damage risk.
- New vehicles, traveling only short distances.
- The rolling material shows less wear.
- Reduced staffing levels regarding driving and rest periods decision.
- Future driver shortages are anticipated.
- No hindrance from the weekend driving ban in Germany.
- Traffic jams are bypassed.
- Transport is more sustainable compared to others forms of transport in particular compared to road transport, for example.
- Compared to road transport, the environmental impact is much lower. A barge consumes much less diesel per 100 t of transported tonnage / per km and emits significantly less CO2.
Calculation example: 84 trucks mean a load length of 1100 m, on the highway that means a length of more than 3 kilometers. With 100 departures, we can relieve the highway of about 17,000 trucks.
